‘I cannot speak highly enough of the incredible work Paul Allen has done at Outwood Academy Portland. He has truly transformed the lives of some of our most challenging students, going above and beyond to create bespoke interventions that support each student individually. His commitment to ensuring that every child not only succeeds academically but also falls back in love with school is remarkable.Paul’s dedication to helping students become better, more resilient individuals is evident in everything he does. Whether delivering coaching awards at local primary schools, planning enriching trips to local gyms, taking students shopping, or even completing a food hygiene course to teach them to cook, there are no lengths he will not go to in supporting our students. His knowledge of school systems is vast, his kindness towards students unwavering, and the relationships he builds with staff are second to none. Paul has made a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of the children at Portland, and for that, we are immensely grateful.’

Testimonials

Cj said he enjoyed everything the programme has given him. I have more confidence in myself and the ability to approach people. I have developed leadership skills.

Seth’s loves doing the course and I’ve heard how his attitude has changed in school since September which I do believe the sports leadership has helped him to achieve.

The football program has helped me with my behaviour and my self respect and especially with my confidence to use my voice and I have made a lot of changes in my behaviour in school and has helped me focus in lessons and to not get anymore silly detentions.

The programme is a brilliant idea, and possibly encouraging coaching in some form for the future.

Cj has grown in confidence and learnt how to approach his peers.

Without this provision I’m not confident Jay would have been in the right frame of mind to turn up to new clubs and put his best foot forward.

I’d like to think all great leaders learn through troubled times. What a difference this provision has made. Long may this type of provision continue and allow seemingly troubled kids to thrive !!

Freddie will definitely be able  to transfer these skills and many others he has learnt to help him in the future. The passion and understanding shown throughout has been unmeasurable and we can’t thank you enough.

The football programme was really good. It helped me learn to be a great leader and help others also it helped my behaviour alot and made me a lot more confident. Also the program helped me learn about how to lead a group successfully especially when we went to sparken hill I led a younger group and made me more confident in leading a big group of people.

He has really enjoyed the programme and has spoke frequently about it at home and has looked forward each week to participating, it’s given him something to focus on and has made him strive to do better in other areas of school.

Taylor has come on in leaps and bounds since starting your programme and I couldn't be more thankful. She has now found a new love for the gym and wants to continue, she says herself it's brilliant for her mental health. I have noticed the dramatic decrease in detentions, and increase in praise cards! She makes me very proud also, this self discipline programme has really changed her mindset for the better. Thank you again, I highly recommend any parent to think about this course for their child!

First of all thank you so much for working with Jayden. I have noticed a positive change in Jayden even at home! I am so happy of the work you have done with him and extremely Proud of Jayden.

His behaviour in class changed dramatically and we feel that is down to your teaching and guidance throughout the program. Your help and advice and support you gave Tom was just brilliant and he seemed to thrive when doing the teaching course. I do believe his words were I want to do your job Mr Allen. A massive thank you from both myself and his dad for everything you have done for Tom. A different lad from 3 months ago.
